MAINTENANCE TIPS
Just like your furnace and air conditioner, water heaters and water softeners have mechanical parts that can fail if not properly maintained. Check your equipment’s owner manual or talk to a Harker Heating & Cooling professional to learn how often your equipment should be serviced and repaired by an hvac technician.
WATER HEATER & SOFTENER MAINTENANCE
It’s important to perform a general inspection every two months or so to assess the state and safety of your water heater. Particularly, you should look for leaks in the pipes, loose connections or screws that need tightening or repairing, and corrosion on any part of the water heater and pipes. You can also save energy by lowering the set temperature of your water heater while on vacation. Just remember to turn it back up when you return! You can maintain your water softener by by following a Water softener maintenance checklist: checking the salt levels by ensuring the salt pellets are high enough to cover any visible water in the tank, and cleaning out the water softener tank once a year.
Call Harker’s Service Department every fall and schedule a clean & check for your heating system.
